The KGL Foundation marked a significant milestone this past Saturday, celebrating its 5th anniversary with the successful hosting of the 2025 KGL Millennium Marathon. The event, which filled the streets of Accra with thousands of runners and spectators, served as a powerful testament to the Foundation's growth and its commitment to fostering health and community development.
As the corporate social responsibility arm of the KGL Group, the Foundation used the marathon to bring together professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and philanthropists in a vibrant celebration aligned with its core pillars: health, youth empowerment, and social impact.
Reflecting on the Foundation's journey, CEO Elliot Dadey expressed immense pride. “It’s been an amazing journey. We started from humble beginnings and have now expanded to working in every single region of the country,” he stated. “This marathon is more than just a race; it is a celebration of the values we stand for.”
The scale of the event underscored its national and continental appeal. “I knew it would be a big thing, but I didn't see it becoming this huge,” Dadey added. “It feels like a major event not just in Ghana, but across Africa. We don't see such gatherings too often, and it's been incredible to see the crowd join us in celebrating this milestone.”
Participants competed across various race categories, including the 5km, 10km, and 21km half-marathon. Beyond the races, the event featured health screenings, aerobics sessions, and a vibrant celebration at Independence Square, where the Foundation showcased its key achievements and upcoming initiatives.
The 2025 Marathon doubled as a platform to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation's nationwide programs, seamlessly blending the promotion of physical fitness with its broader philanthropic mission.
Looking ahead, Mr. Dadey reaffirmed the Foundation's commitment to deepening its impact. “We’re just getting started,” he noted. “The next five years promise even greater partnerships and initiatives to uplift more Ghanaian communities.”
