The KGL Foundation has officially unveiled the newly transformed Physiotherapy Centre at the Tema General Hospital, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing commitment to improving community healthcare infrastructure. The completed project delivers a comprehensive facelift and functional upgrade, creating a modern therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
The renovation addresses critical needs at the Centre, which serves as a essential referral hub for Tema and numerous surrounding communities such as Ashaiman, Afienya, Dawhenya, and Prampram. The scope of work was extensive, focusing on both patient care and staff welfare. Key improvements include the procurement of modern gym machinery to facilitate advanced rehabilitation, the installation of new air conditioners for a comfortable treatment environment, and a full refurbishment of the gym areas.
Beyond the clinical spaces, the project also enhanced staff facilities with a renovated common room and kitchen, ensuring a supportive work environment for healthcare providers. Critical safety and comfort upgrades were made through complete electrical rewiring, upgraded lighting systems, and the installation of new fans and ceilings.
Speaking at the project's completion, Elliot Dadey, Chief Executive Officer of the KGL Foundation, emphasized the Foundation's philanthropic mission. "Healthcare in Ghana remains deeply under-funded, and we recognized an urgent need to intervene. By revitalizing this Centre, we are investing directly in the well-being and recovery of countless individuals in this community," he stated.
The hospital's management has hailed the gesture as both timely and impactful. Dr. Richard Anthony, Medical Director and Consultant General Surgeon at Tema General Hospital, noted that the upgraded facility will significantly enhance patient care. "This generous support will not only improve the quality of care but also reduce the burden on patients who previously had to travel to the city center or Accra for specialized physiotherapy services. It empowers us to better serve our community right here," Dr. Anthony explained.
The newly renovated Physiotherapy Centre stands as a testament to the KGL Foundation's dedication to corporate social responsibility, providing a dignified, fully-equipped space that supports healing and wellness for all.
