A Renewed Environment for Healing at Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

KGL Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Ghana through the renovation of the Out-Patient Department (OPD) Centre at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The intervention forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to supporting mental health care and creating environments that promote dignity, comfort, and healing for patients seeking mental health services.

The renovated facility provides a more welcoming and conducive space for treatment and consultations, enhancing both patient experience and the working conditions of healthcare professionals. Recognising the critical role that quality infrastructure plays in healthcare delivery, KGL Foundation undertook the project to help improve access to care and contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen mental health services in Ghana.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of KGL Foundation, Elliot Dadey, underscored the importance of investing in mental health and supporting institutions that provide essential care to vulnerable members of society. He noted that creating better healthcare environments can positively influence patient outcomes while encouraging greater attention and investment in the mental health sector.

The Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Dr. Kwadwo Marfo Obeng, expressed appreciation to KGL Foundation for the intervention, describing the transformation as significant and impactful. According to him, the renovation has enhanced safety and comfort within consulting rooms, improved the hospital’s image, and created a more welcoming atmosphere for patients and visitors.

He further noted that the improved environment is helping to change perceptions about mental health facilities and encouraging more people to seek professional support when needed.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by key stakeholders in Ghana’s mental health sector, including Eugene Dordoye, Susan Seffah, Peggy Asiedu Ekremet, Mr. Victus Kpesese, Director of Administration at the Mental Health Authority, and Mr. Emmanuel Hanson Torde, Deputy Director of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.

The project reflects KGL Foundation’s continued dedication to creating sustainable social impact through strategic investments in healthcare, education, sports development, youth empowerment, and community development. Through partnerships and targeted interventions, the Foundation remains committed to improving lives and supporting national development.
